SLM Bouldering Roped Autobelay Bouldering Flooring Roped Flooring Youth Area Proxy Climbing Holds

A giant megaplex built for kids, Rush Funplex approached Vertical Solutions to create a fun experience geared toward first-time climbers, and sought a solution that was both cost-effective and quick to install. Our team got to work and delivered 5,500 square feet of climbing walls combined with custom-mixed climbing holds designed to react with blacklight. Our SLM wall system was a perfect match for Rush Funplex’s budget and timeline.

Imagine how stoked you would be to turn the corner after spending all your quarters in the arcade, to find this: a plethora of fun and challenging climbing walls all black-lit with climbing holds! This facility illustrates how deep our range of offerings truly goes.
The TruBlue Auto Belays look great under blacklight at this facility. Vertical Solutions is partnered with Head Rush Technologies to give our clients the best solutions for climbers of all ages and skill levels. We typically package these units in together with our walls, floors and holds for discounted pricing on the entire build-out.

White during the day, and a vibrant purple when in the dark under blacklight. The owners didn't want to have typical florescent lighting necessary for their nighttime climbing, which is located adjacent to a roller rink. So they sought an option that we were thrilled to deliver: a custom application of blacklight coating.
A view of the bouldering wall + foam pit finish at dark under blacklight. Even the foam looks great under blacklight, and there was enough room left over in the ex-swimming pool to accommodate kids climbing or swinging from trapeze bars.
Directly adjacent to the climbing walls is this beautiful large-format roller rink with disco lighting in the center. Combined with specialty carpet and climbing walls for blacklights, this facility is a kid's dream playground.
A closeup view of the carpet surrounding the climbing walls, chosen to specifically accentuate and pop when under blacklight. The SLM blacklight climbing walls and special blacklight climbing holds that we manufactured creates a very similar look!
A view of the foam pit bouldering wall that we built under blacklight, with the adjacent roller rink in the background. Specialty lighting was a main theme for the owners of the facility so we had to come with our A-game to contribute.
For kids just looking to muck-around on the walls without ropes, we built in over 1,500 sq.ft. of bouldering into the facility as well. Habit Flooring was the perfect complimentary product to keep the kids safe, while also keeping spills easy to clean for the staff.
We worked to coordinate this project with our sister company, Proxy Climbing, to manufacture holds specifically for Rush Funplex that reacted to the multitude of black lights installed. Since we are a single-source for all things indoor climbing, this process was made incredibly easy for our clients and they didn't have to deal with multiple companies to execute on their vision.
The Single Layer Modular (SLM) system in use here is a perfect example of when we like to use it. This project has 5,500 Sq.ft. of route climbing and bouldering walls, and was targeting a very specific experience for children that could benefit from custom paints and coatings.
The owners of this facility made good use of a large pool already dug in-place, and turned it into added climbing height both here in part of the 4,000 sq.ft. of route climbing, as well as the bouldering area with foam pit.
This project really defined our ability to execute on a client's vision outside of the typical usage we come across. The paints, textures and blacklight coatings on our walls in this project expanded our repertoire just that much further. Getting our products to look great in the daylight and under blacklight was a fun problem to solve.
A closeup view of how perfectly our SLM wall panels are manufactured to come together onsite for a clean and consistent appearance. It's also obvious in this image to see how much the custom-colored climbing holds pop against the wall paint.
In the daytime, these SLM-built walls look just as good as under the blacklight. The deep and rich colors we applied were chosen by our clients to both keep it simple and fun, and react in different ways to the blacklight installed throughout the facility.
In the daylight, you can start to see the efficient design & construction technique of the Vertical Solutions SLM wall system. Any location where wall panels meet at different angles, is treated and joined uniformly for a consistent look.
Throughout the 4,000 sq.ft. of roped climbing walls, you will find TruBlue Auto Belays ready to assist climbers. As this is a facility for kids, we opted to package many of these with our own custom Auto Belay mounts, together with all of the walls and flooring to keep costs low for our clients.
Another closeup view of how wall angle joints on our Single Layer Modular system projects are treated specifically to look uniform and consistent when installed. This is all manufactured offsite to arrive onsite for the perfect fit and reduce installation time.
The rope climbing here is meant to introduce kids into the sport of climbing by not over-complicating the wall features and including many Auto Belays, while also providing an easy transition to proper roped climbing with top-rope bars.
One of the crown-jewels of the facility is this awesome bouldering wall and foam pit for kids to jump into after climbing to the top! Kids really do have it easy here.We were psyched to be part of such a fun project.
